Upper Dolpo Trekking is one of the most challenging and remote area trekking packages in Nepal. Dolpo Region is one of the most remote and least developed regions of Nepal. Therefore, Upper Dolpo Trekking is going to be the challenging trek for trekkers. Dolpo Region was closed until 1989 for foreigners. Dolpo is situated between the Tibetan Plateau and Dhaulagiri Himalayan range. Actually, Upper Dolpo is the highest inhabited area of Dolpo Region.
Dolpo has been strictly off-limit until only recently being a very isolated area. The culture and lifestyle of Dolpo region is still intact and untouched of modernization. The Upper Dolpo Trek route passes through many gigantic mountain ranges including Dhaulagiri and Annapurna along with Kanjiroba to name the few. Upper Dolpo Trekking is started from Jhupal village from where we begin to explore the people and culture along with the beautiful forest. Upper Dolpo Trek has so many things to reveal you. It will offer you the unique and rewarding experience of walking in the remote and barren lands of Nepal.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon reaching at Kathmandu, the representatives from our company receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport and then transfer you to the hotel. You stay overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley
You will have full day guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley today. We will mainly cover world-famous World Heritage Sites situated at Kathmandu including: Pashupatinath Temple (one of the holiest temple of Lord Buddha), Bauddhanath Stupa (one of the oldest and largest Buddhist Monasteries in Nepal), Swayambhunath Temple (popularly known as Monkey Temple among foreigners), and Kathmandu Durbar Square among others. We stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 03: Flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
In the morning, we transfer to domestic airport for the scenic flight to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu. We check into the hotel. You can explore around the Nepalgunj city. We stay overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Flight from Nepalgunj to Jhupal (2400m) and Trek to Dunai (2150m)
We transfer to the airport early in the morning for the flight to Jhupal which takes around 45 minutes. And we meet our staffs on reaching Jhupal and start trekking with our staffs to Dunai. We reach Dunai after 3 hours where we stay overnight.

Day 05: Trek from Dunai to Ankhe (2660m)
Our route diverts from Dunai to cross the new suspension bridge and turning west. Our path soon begins to climb up the side of treeless Thulo Bheri Valley where it crests a ridge and then enters the Phoksundo River Valley. We pass through Dhera and Rahagaon to finally reach at Ankhe where there is an entrance to the Shey Phoksundo National Park. Our accommodation will be in tented camps.

Day 06: Trek from Ankhe to Sulighat
Today, our route form the camp of Ankhe leads to small ups and downs along the forested riverbed which eventually leaves the forests and traverses a grassy slope high above the river. Eventually, we reach at Sulighat for overnight stay.

Day 07: Trek from Sulighat to Phoksundo Lake (3600m)
We continue along the valley floor to the confluence of the Phoksundo and Pungmo Khola. We follow the route to Pungmo Khola and then arrive at Phoksundo Lake near Ringmo where we stay overnight at tented camps.

Day 08: Phoksundo Lake: Rest Day (3600m)
We have a well-deserved rest day at Phoksundo Lake today. So, we can go for a short hike to the village of Ringmo and its Tibetan Buddhist Monastery is also well worth visit. We stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 09: Trek from Phoksundo Lake to Phoksundo Khola (3507m)
Today, our adventure continues skirting the shore of the Phoksundo Lake as it contours on a rocky ledge along the western bank. We then follow the unsteady trail and eventually stop at Phoksundo Khola where we stay overnight at tented camps.

Day 10: Trek from Phoksundo Khola to Phoksundo Bhanjyang (4402m)
Our first walk leads along the level path through a glacial valley that now heads due north. En route, we can witness an old wooden bridge at the confluence of the Phoksundo Lake. We finally arrive at Phoksundo Bhanjyang where we stay overnight at tented camps.

Day 11: Trek from Phoksundo Bhanjyang to Shey Gompa (4126m) via Kang-La Pass (5151m)
We make the early start and the trek leads up to the steep climb littered with slate towards the pass. We climb quite strenuous trail at the point. We can have some beautiful views down upon a large valley from the top of the Kang La. After arriving at Shey Gompa, we setup our tented camps for overnight accommodation.

Day 12: Shey Gompa (The Crystal Monastery): Rest Day (4126m)
Today will be another rest day at Shey Gompa. We can utilize this opportunity to make a local hike around Shey. Actually, Shey Gompa is also known as The Crystal Monastery.

Day 13: Trek to Namduna Gaun (4400m) via Saldang La (4785m)
We begin our day with a walk following a trail amidst juniper trees. We then descend into a gray stony canyon. After that, we begin trekking through zig-zag path over the bare rocks and coarse eroded soil until it eventually takes us to the top of Saldong La. Finally, we step to Namduna Gaon where we stay overnight at tented camps.

Day 14: Trek from Namduna Gaun to Saldang (3903m)
Today, we leave the Namduna Gaun. Our route then leads to a climb up scree slope. After that, we begin a long traverse along some dusty barren mountains. Eventually, we reach at Saldang where we stay overnight at tented camps.

Day 15: Trek from Saldang to Yangze Gompa
Our journey diverts further far north to the least explored area by the trekkers in the region. We then follow the Nang Chu River most of the way on this wild barren windswept terrain. Passing through the Yangze, we then pass through Panzang River. Eventually, we arrive at Yangze Gompa where we stay overnight at tented camps.

Day 16: Trek from Yangze Gompa to Sibu (3942m)
There are two trails that connect Yangze to Sibu. The long way trail heads due west passing through very remote village of Nishagaon and further past Shimengaun. We finally arrive at Sibu where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 17: Trek from Sibu to Jeng-la Phedi
Today, our trail follows the Nam Khong Khola for a while on the morning walk coming across the caravan of laden yaks that are on their way towards Tibet Border. Eventually, we reach at Jeng La Phedi where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 18: Trek from Jeng-La Phedi to Tokyu Gaun via Jeng La (4369m)
We start early in the morning today and our trail leads us to two-hours climb towards the top of Jeng La. On the way forth, we enjoy the excellent views of snow ranges to the south. Moreover, the Dhaulagiri Massif is vividly visible in the morning light. Finally, we reach at Tokyu Gaun where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 19: Trek from Tokyu Gaun to Dho Tarap (4090m)
Today, our route leads eastward along the downhill course of Tarap Chu in the plain valley with patches of lush verdant grass both sides of the river which is completely different from other parts of inner Dolpo. We stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 20: Rest Day at Dho Tarap (4090m)
Today will be another rest day during our trip. So, we can explore around the local areas in Dho Tarap and stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 21: Trek from Dho Tarap to Tarap Khola (Kamakharka)
This day can be quite a long day or moderate walk depending upon the choice of different campsites. After about seven hours of trekking, we arrive at Tarap Khola which is also known as Kamakharka. Tented camps will be our accommodation overnight.

Day 22: Trek from Tarap Khola to Khanigaon (2550m)
Today, we continue down the gorge of Tarap River and at time, the river rise high above on the trail built from the steep slopes. Eventually, we arrive at Khanigaon and stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 23: Trek from Khanigaon to Tarakot (2281m)
We follow an indistinct trail to the village of Lalberi today. And then, we pass through an area of impressive forest before descending into another range. We again continue following the river downstream until we reach Tarakot. Tented camps will be our accommodation overnight.

Day 24: Trek from Tarakot to Dunai (2052m)
Today, we continue walking besides the Bheri River today in a tremendous gorge with pine forests. After that, we will be following the ingenious path built about seven meters above the river. We stay overnight at tented camps in Dunai.

Day 25: Trek from Dunai to Jhupal (2404m)
Today is going to be the final day of our trek. Therefore, we retrace the journey back to Jhupal which is a short distance walk along the Bheri River to the small airstrip for the last overnight camp of this Upper Dolpo Trek.

Day 26: Fly from Jhupal to Nepalgunj to Kathmandu
Today, we take a morning flight to Nepalgunj. And we take next available flight to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj airport today. On arriving Kathmandu, you can take your time for the last minute shopping and all.

Day 27: Leisure Day at Kathmandu
Today if you wish, you can spend a free day at Kathmandu. You can explore the valley in more depth, meet other friends, or you can take your time for the last minute shopping. We stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 28: Final Departure
After completing your rewarding trip in Nepal, you are going to leave Nepal today. Our company representative will transfer you to the airport for your final departure. We will be returning to your hometown today.
