Upper Mustang Trekking is regarded similar to trekking in Tibet. This trek offers a spectacular trekking into the remote Trans-Himalayan mountain area with Tibetan influence and culture. Mustang region is the high desert region of the Tibetan influence.
During Mustang Exploration Trek, you can explore the thousand years of old monastery, local tribes and landscapes, caves among many others. Our trek passes through many high peaks and passes as well as glaciers. We also get to experience the alpine valleys. The city wall and the four story palace in Lo Manthang are some of the beautiful architectures of Mustang region. Tiji Festival is another attraction in Mustang region. Tiji Festival is influenced by Tibetan Buddhism which is timed to coincide with the end of the dry season which is late winter/spring.
Mustang region is also known as The Last Forbidden Kingdom. And it only recently opened the doors to the outside world. In Mustang, the King and people still live in their ancient and rich ways. You will have great time trekking in Mustang and exploring the area from close.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon reaching at Kathmandu, the representatives from our company receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport and then transfer you to the hotel. You stay overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing of Kathmandu
You will have full day guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley today. We will mainly cover world-famous World Heritage Sites situated at Kathmandu including: Pashupatinath Temple (one of the holiest temple of Lord Buddha), Bauddhanath Stupa (one of the oldest and largest Buddhist Monasteries in Nepal), Swayambhunath Temple (popularly known as Monkey Temple among foreigners), and Kathmandu Durbar Square among others. We stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 03: Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara (823m)
Today, we catch the scheduled morning flight to Pokhara from Kathmandu. It takes approx. 30 minutes to reach Pokhara via flight. In the afternoon, you will take your time to explore the city and roam around the lake side. We stay overnight at hotel in Pokhara.

Day 04: Flight from Pokhara to Jomsom (2700m), then trek to Kagbeni (2858m)
Today morning, we take our morning flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. After arriving at Jomsom, we start trekking onwards to Kagbeni. Kagbeni is the Gateway to Upper Mustang. We stay overnight at camp.

Day 05: Trek from Kagbeni to Chele (3050m)
After having the morning breakfast at Kagbeni, we begin our today's journey. At this point, we are further north than the Annapurna range and we can witness the grand views of Nilgiri looming in the south with the spectacular backdrop. At Annapurna Conservation Area Project Post, your permits are checked and then we enter Upper Mustang. After trekking further, we pass by Chuksang, Narsingh Khola and Kaligandaki. We eventually arrive at Chele where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 06: Trek from Chele to Samar (3660m)
Our trail climbs higher beyond Chele to where the irrigation for the village starts and then looking at a very scenic village Gyagar across a huge canyon with the Nilgiri. En route, you have chances to spot Tibetan Snowcocks, blue rock pigeons, pikkas, Lammegiers, Choughs, and Griffon Vultures among others. We the cross the Dozong La and then make final short walk to Samar where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 07: Trek from Samar to Geling (3570)
Today, we have two optional trails to get to Geling. The first and higher one going via Bhena, which is also the most used one, and the second one is the lower and the off-the-beaten trail that goes right down to the river and offers us the opportunity to visit Chungsi Rock Shrine. After trekking for around six hours we reach Geling where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 08: Trek from Geling to Charang (3500m)
Today, we begin our trek from Geling heading northwest up to Nyi La which the land of Lho. After crossing the pass, we descend to the Tangmar River beside which there is a green patch right below the village of Gami. After lunch, we cross the river to climb to the highest rice growing area of the world. We then climb up the pass and eventually reach Charang where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 09: Trek from Charang to Lo Manthang (3700m)
After taking morning breakfast, we continue our trek descending to the water mills near the river where the locals make flour from various grains. After that, we cross river to climb to the other side of the valley and continue up to the pass. After passing Lo La, we finally arrive at Lo Manthang where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 10: In Lho Manthang (3700m)
Today, we explore the surrounding areas. We visit Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar. Actually, Namgyal Gompa is situated on a hilltop and serves as an important monastery of the local community. After visiting Namgyal Gompa, we continue the tour to Tingkhar which is the last main village to the northwest of Lho-Manthang. You can either visit the Tall Champa Lakhang. We return back and stay overnight at hotel.

Day 11: Trek from Lho Manthang to Dhakmar (3810m)
Today, we trek to Dhakmar via Gyakar with more than 1200 years old Ghar Gompa with Guru Ringpoche as the primary figure. This Gompa has famous rock paintings. The legend says that anyone who makes one wish at the Ghar Gompa, they get their wish fulfilled. On arriving at Dhakmar, we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 12: Trek from Dhakmar to Tamagaon (3750)
Today, we start by descending to the main village of Dhakmar and through the fields to a pass then drop to a small stream. From the river, we climb up to the village of Gami which has a Buddhist Shrine and a nunnery. After leaving the village we climb up to a pass after which the path contours and descends to join the lower path. Continuing onwards, we eventually reach at Tamagaon from where the village of Geling is seen below us. We stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 13: Trek from Tamagaon to Chele (3050m)
Today, we drop down to a river to climb up to a path that leads us to Samokchen La and eventually Samokchen. We then take the higher trail that crosses two passes which are Yamdo La and Baga La. After crossing a river to the huddle of houses in Bhena, we then pass through the river below Samar. Trekking further for some an hour will bring us to Chele where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 14: Trek from Chele to Kagbeni (2858m)
Today, we start with descending down to Kali Gandaki Valley which looks familiar again and seems ages ago that we had plodded up these slopes. We will either go along the river bed or climb to the apple orchards of Tebang after traveling through the village of Chuksang. We eventually reach at Kagbeni where we stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 15: Trek from Kagbeni to Jomsom (2700m)
We head south before the winds pick up today. En route, we can observe the massive folding of the rocks on either side of the valley and pilgrims, tourists and locals ambling along on this once very crucial salt trade route. On reaching Jomsom, we check into the local lodge where we stay overnight.

Day 16: Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara
Today, after having our morning breakfast, we check into the Jomsom Airport to fly back to Pokhara. After 30-minutes of dramatic flight, we reach Pokhara. In the remaining time, we take the sightseeing tour of Pokhara city. We stay overnight at guesthouse in Pokhara.

Day 17: Flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu
From Pokhara, we take the morning flight to Kathmandu. On arrival, we can visit the Kathmandu city or also can go for last minute shopping. We stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Final Departure
After completing your rewarding trip in Nepal, you are going to leave Nepal today. Our company representative will transfer you to the airport for your final departure. We will be returning to your hometown today.
